Our Sustainability Work – The Product, the Person and the Planet

At Rydahls Industry AB, our sustainability work is built on three core pillars: the Product, the Person, and the Planet. These three Ps represent our commitment to long-term, responsible development—for people, the environment, and the market.

The Product – Quality that lasts

A sustainable product is more than just functionality—it is a complete solution.

At Rydahls Industry AB, we primarily focus on brake and friction solutions that meet stringent safety requirements.

We develop and manufacture our components with quality in mind. Through close collaboration with both customers and manufacturers, we help enable a more sustainable and resource-efficient industry.

We support our customers in making informed product choices, with a focus on operational reliability, service life, material selection, and energy efficiency.

The Person – People at the centre

We believe that true sustainability begins with people. It is about safe working conditions, gender equality, inclusion, and opportunities for personal development.

Our employees are our most important resource, and we invest in work environment, safety, and skills development.

We ensure our values are reflected throughout our operations—from supplier to customer.

The Planet – Our shared responsibility

We only have one planet, and it is our duty to take care of it. We actively work to reduce our climate impact through energy efficiency measures, smarter material choices, and sustainable transport.

Through innovative solutions and environmentally certified processes, we strive to reduce waste and carbon emissions. Combating climate change is an integrated part of our strategy.

Rydahls Industry invests in sustainable ventilation

Rydahls Industry has completed an upgrade of the production ventilation system—with both the work environment and sustainability in focus.

By increasing the air exchange rate, we have created a cleaner and healthier work environment for our employees.

At the same time, we have implemented an energy-efficient recovery system where heat from our ovens is captured and reused in the ventilation unit.

This solution contributes to:

  • Reduced energy consumption
  • Lower climate impact
  • Improved work environment
  • Increased resource efficiency

By combining technical improvements with a clear sustainability focus, we continue to develop our operations in a more responsible direction.

Sand

Smart recycling that makes a difference – our work with cutting sand

We actively work to protect natural resources and prioritise sustainable solutions—both today and for the future.

An important part of our efforts to reduce waste is how we handle spent sand from our waterjet cutting machines. By recycling used raw materials, we can create a more resource-efficient, circular flow.

The cutting sand we use—so-called garnet sand—is a natural mineral sand that can be recycled up to eight times.

After use, the sand is sent back to the supplier, where it is washed, dried, screened, and blended with new virgin sand so it can be used again in production.

When the sand can ultimately no longer be recycled, the residual product is used in foundry work.

In practice, this creates a closed loop and minimises both resource consumption and landfill waste.

Tests also show that high-quality recycled sand often has better cutting performance than virgin sand—an advantage that benefits both our customers and the environment.
