DPWD
The DPWD valve is designed to monitor pressure differences between two brake circuits and generate a warning signal when a defined pressure deviation occurs. The solution enables direct indication without the need for signal processing via ECU or vehicle software.
Background and Development
The development was initiated several years ago based on an identified customer need, as the market lacked a valve that fulfilled specified requirements regarding functionality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Initial solutions were developed in the form of:
- Prototypes for separate installation
- Integrated solutions for direct mounting on the vehicle’s main block
The products were functionally verified through physical testing, but implementation was delayed due to ambiguities in applicable regulations.
In 2022, regulatory requirements were updated, providing clearer product specifications. A new valve variant was developed and validated through:
- Bench testing
- Testing in actual vehicle applications
All tests were completed without remarks.
Design and Characteristics
The valve is designed to:
- Detect differential pressure between brake circuits
- Activate a warning at a predefined pressure level
- Operate independently of external control systems
- Meet requirements for operational reliability under varying temperature and load conditions
The development has been carried out in close collaboration with suppliers and manufacturers, with a focus on achieving an optimized series production product.
Production and Quality Assurance
Final assembly is performed in Rydahls’ hydraulic clean room under controlled processes:
- All components undergo ultrasonic cleaning prior to assembly
- Assembly steps are governed by operator instructions
- All steps are documented in a production log
Each valve:
- Is assigned a unique serial number
- Is delivered with an individual test protocol
- Is 100% function tested prior to delivery
Offering
The DPWD valve is part of Rydahls’ offering within brake systems, where both individual components and complete system solutions are developed based on customer-specific requirements.
